TJ Down Under
I flew out to Sydney, Australia on January 29th for 2 weeks! I mainly went there to ride trails and hit up Cam Whites Hillside Jam dedicated to dirt legend Dane Searls! The first couple of days were rainy so we just chilled out then headed up to cams a few days after. It was flooded in cams yard and pouring down rain the day before the jam, we hung out down at backbone BMX shop with all those guys and picked up a few things. The day of the jam was sunny to say the least so ended up riding a cement park for a few hours before heading up to the jam! When i got to cams yard the streets were full of cars, the yard full of fans and the session was in full effect so I joined in untill the jam was over! Once the dust settled Chris Harti won best style, Jai Toohey won best trick with a flip triple whip and I took home King of the Hill which left me speechless with all the insane riding that was going down, knuckles to all the riders that we’re on the roll in shredding.
After the jam went back to Sydney and rode Mt. White trails for a few good days until we got rained out. With the storm in full effect Jed Milden, Hucker Clark and I decided to fly out to Queenstown, New Zealand for the RedBull Roast It Jam. One of the best decisions ever. The town was unreal and trails couldn’t have been in any better condition. There’s nothing like BBQ and riding til’ dark.
Few days before the jam I got to head out to the Frew Farm with the boys and shoot a television show with Jed of us having fun on and off the bikes like fishing in the river for a couple plus hours without a catch lol after that we headed back to Queenstown and rode the jam everyone killed it. Jed won best trick with a double flip midset!
The last part of my trip ended in Vienna, Austria for masters of dirt biggest show of the year! That town was awesome to see a bunch of historic buildings and cool statues over the city and hangout with a bunch of cool athletes from all over the world and put on a awesome show for the fans of Vienna!
It was a good month on the road had a blast but being back to reality is always good!!!
Pics from the yard
Heres a few pics of Heath and Brett from Heaths yard. Everything has been changed and is running good.
Maris on the cover of the June issue of 2024 Mag
Pick up the June issue of 2024 BMX magazine. Free Agent/Rockstar Pro Maris Strombergs has a great cover photo and interview.
Strombergs wins World Cup in Holland with Herman taking 3rd!
Great weekend at the UCI World Cup in Holland. Maris Strombergs had a great Day 1 qualifying 1st and placing 2nd in the Superfinal despite a mistake in the wind. He came back even stronger race day, winning the main from lane 8 and confirming he’s not only motivated but also strong going into the World Championships… in Birmingham in 2 weeks. David Herman once again proves he’s on a mission this year looking to do whatever it takes to make Team USA for the Olympic Games this Summer. Another World Cup Podium for David and like Maris, he too is looking strong and confident for the World Championships.

Free Agent & Toby Wells Foundation team up with the teens at San Pasqual Academy
Free Agent & Toby Wells Foundation are not only dedicated to providing both funds and products to kids in need but also time. Team Manager, Dale Holmes, spent several hours at the track last night with a couple of young men from San Pasqual Academy, a residential foster care facility for teens in San Diego County. The boys enjoyed several hours of one-on-one riding instruction as well as goodie bags stuffed with items from our team sponsors. The boys left stoked and can’t wait for the next trip to the track. For more information, please visit both, Free Agent BMX and Toby Wells Foundation on Facebook or www.Tobywells.org.
More good results from Kristaphs Vinters
Kristaphs Vinters continues his great comeback from injury by winning the Latvian National Championships last week and backed it up this weekend with a 5th place at the European Championships. Next up for Kristaphs will be the World Championships in Birmingham, England later this month.
Maris Strombergs School visit
Maris Strombergs made a visit to a local Murrieta Elementary School, Cole Canyon. He spent time with the kids sharing the importance of working hard towards your goals and emphasized that a key to success is to “never give up, and try your best all the time”. The kids enjoyed seeing Strombergs’ bike and were excited that he’s heading to London to defend his Olympic Gold Medal. This is one of many visits Strombergs has made to local schools to spend time with the kids and to encourage them to reach their fullest potential. Cheers to Strombergs for making the time to give back even with a crowded training schedule less than 85 days before the Olympic Games!

USA BMX Winter Nationals update
Great weekend for the team at the World Famous Winter Nationals in Phoenix, Arizona. This event has been on the BMX calendar annually for over 20 years, so anyone would refer to it as a classic and one that is much coveted to win.
Our very own Maris Strombergs and David Herman were in the house and looking to do some damage in the Elite Class. Strombergs was really fired up for this race and was back on point winning every lap of the day and even secured the win on Saturday from lane 8, with 5 bike length win over 2nd place rider Denzel Stein. I think it’s safe to say, “The Machine” is back and at just the right time with less than 100 days to the London Olympic Games.
Herman was looking good all day winning laps despite fighting both jet lag from Europe and 100 degree + heat. In the main, Herman was a bit late out of the gate & and got pinched off and that was the end of his day. Herman then decided to pull the plug for the weekend with the Worlds & Olympic qualification on the horizon — smart thinking from the Colorado Kid.
Sunday, Day #2, Strombergs again was feeling it — winning lap after lap and chose lane 8 in the final again, with confidence that he’s back on his game. His gate was not perfect and he was battling Willers in the first turn and got run out a bit, which took his momentum and chance of a win – falling into the 5th spot but Strombergs leaves Phoenix with a confirmed sense of confidence. Strombergs is now off to Europe for the next 5 weeks to focus specifically on SX training and to gear up for the upcoming World Cup in Holland & the World Championships in Birmingham, England.
Acting Team Manager for the weekend, Cristian Becerine, came to Phoenix to handle the pit and to support the guys – he even managed to fit in the Friday night pre-race and finished 2nd behind Nic Long. Becerine will be eligible for vet pro next month and will make his debut in Nashville. Amateur team riders, Marcus Hampton & Stephen Larralde started the weekend off right. Hampton won junior devo Friday night and unfortunately took a nasty fall on Saturday & broke his wrist with a minor concussion – heal up quick, Buddy. Larralde’s winning streak continues with a win on both days setting himself up for a strong World Championships defense in England next month. All in all a great weekend for the team and terrific confidence booster for our guys leading into next month’s World Championships.

Kristaphs Vinters wins in Europe
Congratulations to our European rider, Kristaphs Vinters, who won the first Latvian National of the year. Kristaphs has been struggling with injuries for the past 6 months and is now finally healthy. This clean bill of health is enabling him to focus on training for the upcoming European and World Championships later this Summer in the junior mens category.
