Kommute For Kids Bike Giveaway!

Holiday Bike Give-Away 2016

30 bikes were delivered to Longfellow Elementary School in Riverside on Monday, December 5th.  The kids and their families were pretty excited about the shiny new Free Agent BMX bikes and Kali Protective helmets that you earned for them through our “Kommute For Kids” Bike Donation Program.

Mike Cachat gave a few encouraging words to the kids and also received an award from the City of Riverside for the generous donation of bikes made each year by Jenson USA.

Trevor gave a rad bike performance and had the kids cheering him on and dreaming of the tricks they could do one day.

The kids also got a good laugh at my giant flash cards with pictures that I made for the Bicycle Safety Tips.  Hopefully the tips will keep them safe on the road.

One of the winners wrote in his essay:
“The bike can take me to the dentist to get my teeth checked and to keep them clean and healthy. I can go to the pet store to buy food for my pets. I can race my cousins and friends to exercise and have fun. My bike can take me ANYWHERE! No matter where I go riding my bike is an EPIC ride.”

Building A Champion – Part II: #81 Maris Strombergs

In less than a month BMX athletes from around the world will step onto the world’s largest stage in Rio and leave it all on the line in the hopes of securing the title of Olympic Champion. You have seen many of them on the track and have looked up to them on the podium. But have you ever wondered what happens off the track to prepare them for those 40 seconds of all out exertion? What does it take to compete at the highest level against the most formidable opponents the world has to offer? In this video series, we asked some of the top Olympic contenders to pull back the curtain and show the blood, sweat and determination that goes into earning the right to stand on the top step and be declared a Champion.

Maris Strombergs has dominated the BMX event by taking home the gold in both previous Olympic games. Can the man they call “The Machine” continue his streak and bring home another gold for his home country of Latvia? Maris takes us behind the scenes and provides and inside look at the mental preparation needed to take on such a daunting challenge.
