Great night at the Latvian Athletes Award Ceremony. Maris Strombergs secured both Athlete of the Year & Most Popular Athlete of the Year! This is actually the 2nd time Maris has won. This acknowledgement is not only much-deserved but is also very good for the sport of BMX . Maris is now an “A List” celebrity in Latvia – yes, on all “TMZ” style TV shows and in all of the weekly magazines. To sweeten the evening even more, Maris’ coach, Ivo Lakucs, won Coach of the Year.
