Alec Bob Podiums at Rock Hill

This past weekend I was in Rock Hill, SC at one of my favorite facilities on the circuit. Racing started off Friday, with sub 40 temperatures as well as a head wind down the second straight. The winds made it challenging for the elites to make it through the pro set and over the berm jump at the end of the second straight away. I ended the day with my best finish in elite so far with a 6th place finish in the semi main. For the first time this year I was only bike lengths away from making the main. On day two the winds were vice versa of Friday with a headwind down the first straight and a tailwind down the second straight. My day ended early after two hiccups in my first and third round I had too many points to advance to the semi. Sunday turned out to be the coldest of the three day with temperatures hovering around 35 degrees and misty. Since I ride in these conditions on a regular basis I wasn’t phased.  I went on to win all three mains in Pro open on Sunday.

With our local track being closed due the recent snowfall and rainy forecast, I will be going to Florida this weekend to spend more on the big hill to prep for the two upcoming world cups races in early May. I’m looking forward to riding in sunny and warm conditions.

Alec Bob Starting Off Strong

This past weekend was my first race back since my injury in September. It was refreshing to be back at the race and seeing so many familiar faces again. On the first day of racing I was rather anxious. Once the jitters were out of the way I was able to ride more consistently and smooth. After wheeling out of the gate in Friday’s main I ended up fifth. Day 2 I was mentally stronger and ready to improve my results. After winning 2/3 preliminary rounds I finished 3rd in the main. On the third day of racing my body was feeling the fatigue of the previous race days, but mentally I was finding my groove. I won my second and third rounds including my stacked semi final. In the main I didn’t have the best start and got squeezed out down the first straight and salvaged a fifth. Overall the weekend was great for my first race back. Only a couple things to work on and I will be back out in front.
Next week I will be at the Olympic training center for a week to prepare for the SX World Cups then I will be in Phoenix the following weekend for the my first elite race of the year. Cant wait, see you out there.
