Free Agent racer Maris Strombergs (Latvia) has won Olympic Gold for the second time.

The 2008 Beijing Olympic Gold Medalist just pulled off the repeat in London.

Maris worked his way through a competitive field of 32 to qualify for the Main Event held Friday afternoon. Maris was up against the fastest racers in the world including Connor Fields (USA), Sam Willoughby (AUS) and Liam Phiilps (GB) in the Gold Medal event.

Maris drew gate 3 and when the gate dropped Maris pulled a slight holeshot and reached the first turn just in front of the current World Champion, Australian Sam Willoughby. Maris never looked back as he held the lead to the finish.

Congratulations Maris on your incredible victory.

Maris and David Qualify for Olympic Semi-Final

Maris and David both transfer to Friday’s Semi-final. Maris placed 2-5-1 in his first 3 motos and received an automatic transfer for being in the Top-2.

David Herman, however, was under a bit more pressure to transfer after crashing in his first moto and scoring a DNF. David had to ride all 5 motos, taking 8-3-4-1-2 to transfer on points to the Semi.

Maris and David will be in the same Semi #2, along with other favorites like Marc Willers (NZL) and Sam Willoughby (AUS). 4 riders from each of the two Semis will qualify for the final Main.

Live coverage of both Women’s and Men’s Semis can be seen starting at 7:00am Friday morning.

The Women’s Medal Final will run at 7:30am Friday. The Men’s Medal Final will be run at 7:35am Friday.
