Chula Vista UCI World Cup and US National Championships

April 3, 2012

(http://www NULL.FreeAgentBMX NULL.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Herm-Small NULL.jpg)Great results for the Team this past weekend at the UCI World Cup and US National Championships in Chula Vista, CA. Maris Strombergs and David Herman were flying the flag in the Elite Class for FA/Rockstar with Maris placing 2nd in the Time Trial Friday night and Saturday showed up strong winning both his quarter and semi-finals. When the gate dropped in the Final, Strombergs took off with the lead once again but strayed a little wide in turn one resulting in losing his line and the lead before shutting it down to avoid injury and came in 8th. Still, an overall positive vibe for Maris for the weekend, as he has not even started his SX specific training for the upcoming Olympic season so things will be looking even better in the coming months, as the machine builds himself back up.

New Team signing and Team USA, David Herman, had an awesome weekend winning laps all weekend resulting in 10th place in the Time Trial and secured a 3rd place slot on the Podium in the World Cup. Herman then back to do it again on Sunday during the US National Championships and staked his claim on 3rd for that race as well. Both Maris and David worked just as hard off the track with TV and other Media interviews all weekend along with the Latvian National News making a special trip to the States to follow Maris for the weekend. Even though both guys were quite busy, they along with the other FA/Rockstar riders, made time to sign autographs and visit with the fans over at the Fox Trailer.

Next up…Amateurs…Marcus Hampton continues to progress, as he made all of his mains in the highly competitive 15 x along with his teammate Juan Marin who grabbed a Podium spot 4 times over the weekend which included a win Day 1. Our Amateur World Champion, Stephen Larralde, came back from an early and nasty crash to claim his 2nd National Championship in a row and qualified in the process to defend his World title in Birmingham England later this May.

Would like to give a big shout out to the guys at Fox who bought down there impressive Rig for our pit along with a BBQ for all to enjoy on Saturday. Overall, a great weekend, indeed.
